Grand Hyatt Union Square (San Francisco)

The Grand Hyatt Union Square is perfect for a short trip to the city. It is super convenient to lots of shops and restaurants, and a short walk away from the Ferry Building, Chinatown, and North Beach. Rooms are clean and spacious with automatic shades (yay!) and renovated bathrooms. The only negative with this hotel is the parking fee – $67 for valet and $39 for self-parking. Before we had the baby, we would just cab/uber/lyft around, but with the car seat and the baby the car rental and parking thing is kind of inevitable.

Location

The hotel is situated right behind the massive Apple store with floor-to-ceiling two-story glass windows, on Stockton and Sutter. There’s tons of shopping in the area, if you like that sort of thing (I DO!), and two pharmacies (CVS and Walgreens) a stone’s throw away, in case you need to buy baby stuff (we did).

The nightstand between the two beds had two USB outlets; but only on the right side. The room was spacious enough to set up the Nuna playpen next to the window.

Standard flatscreen TV and desk area. The faux-dresser held a mini-fridge and the safe; no drawers. Sorry about all of our stuff (and my mom’s) — I forgot to take the photos before the bellhop dropped off all of our things. Blame it on mommy brain & having a child in my arms.

A small but clean bathroom, with a sink big enough to bathe a six-month old baby in. 🙂 Toiletries are Hyatt’s in-house June Jacobs brand. They’re unimpressive, but the green tea-cucumber scent is pleasant.

Bath with tub (with a dreaded shower curtain). This is just me, but I hate shower curtains in hotel rooms because you KNOW that the maids aren’t taking them off with each guest and cleaning them. And damp + dark = germs. That’s not me being a germaphobe, that’s just science, folks!
